FACEBOOK WILL HELP YOU FIND LOVE

Maybe you won’t have to find love in a hopeless place after all.

Facebook announced that it has been working on its own dating feature, Secret Crush, for all of its single users out there.

Facebook has more than 2 billion users, which makes it the biggest social media platform out there. The dating feature was bound to happen really.

The service is not that new actually, it’s been active since last September in Colombia. Its new update made it available for users in countries like Thailand, Argentina and Mexico.

And despite what you’re thinking, it kinda looks promising.

The feature is taking more of a OK CupidHinge kind of approach. Meaning it is more of a data driven-compatibility seeking feature, unlike Tinder, which goes for the much easier swipe right or left method.

Moreover, it lets users list up to nine friends of their facebook friends whom they secretly have a thing for. For it to work tho, both parties must be registered in Facebook Dating and list each as a Secret Crush.

Facebook is also encouraging you to list your crush if they’re not enrolled. As Facebook thinks that people will sign up out of curiosity to know who’s got a thing for them. (Which kinda makes sense tbh)

How the feature works

Worthy to mention that the service won’t use your actual Facebook account. It’ll allow you to create a separate dating account where you’ll match with others based on common interests, groups and events. It also acts like the golden mean of dating sites and apps, as in offering a very wide variety of singles yet matching on compatibility basis.

We have no idea when this feature will be available here in Egypt. Yet we think when it does it’ll be very interesting to observe.

What could go wrong, you know?
