Someone once said: “Pizza is like pizza, even when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good.” And that someone, is absolutely right.
As fattening and unhealthy as it is, no one can get enough of it. There’s something about cheese, tomato sauce and dough together that makes everyone lose their mind, at least us here in the office.
Anyways, we decided to stop shoving pizza down our throats for 5 minutes to let you know about some of the best places you can get it from.
So, without further ado, here are our top 4 picks of pizzerias in Cairo:
- Pepenero:
Located in El-Korba, Heliopolis, Pepenero is a très chic restaurant that offers you a truly authentic Italian cuisine like no other! They use real buffalo mozzarella, which is surprisingly not used in a lot of pizzerias here in Egypt.
Our favorite is the “Burrata“, which is based with tomato sauce and topped with buffalo mozzarella and burrata cheese. A bit basic, we agree, but the burrata cheese makes all the difference!
- Maison Thomas:
If you know, you know.
A staple in Cairo, Maison Thomas has been operating since 1922, and it STILL manages to be one of the most popular pizzerias till this day. It has a lot of branches throughout Cairo, like in Rehab, Mohandeseen, Zamalek, Nasr City, Maadi, Helipolis and Sheikh Zayed. Also, it delivers fresh hot pizzas to your doorstep, which is awesome.
Our favorite is the “Jalapeno“, which is based tomato sauce and topped with mozzarella, cheddar cheese, chicken, oregano, jalapeno pepper and olive oil. It’s seriously delicious!
- 900 Degrees:
Located in Downtown mall in Tagamou3 El-Khames, 900 Degrees makes Neapolitan pizza like no other. They put so much thought into crafting their pizzas and frankly, it shows! Worthy to mention that their dough is really something else.
Our favorite is the “Bianca“, which is based with tomato sauce and topped with beef, cherry tomatoes, rocket (gargeer), and parmesan. They all blends together and explode their flavors within your first bite!
- Il Mulino:
Located in both Maadi and Heliopolis, Il Mulino is a bakery, restaurant and a pizzeria all at once. And despite what you’re thinking, it does a pretty amazing job at all of them.
Our favorite is the “Spicy Daviola“, which is based with, you guessed it, tomato sauce and topped with mozzarella, salami picante, oregano and extra virgin olive oil. The crust is something to die for, for real.
All in all, we here at Kolwaka think that pizza is everyone’s favorite thing to eat, hell, it’s our favorite thing to eat, so, we urge you to give these pizzerias as they are truly worth the visit.
