‘PARANORMAL’, EGYPT’S FIRST NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES!

“Ma Wara2 Al Tabee3a”, aka the best-selling Arabic horror book series of all time, is getting its own Netflix show!

Written by the late author Ahmed Khaled Tawfik, and selling more than 15 million copies, the book was quite a success!

Netflix then recruited two of the biggest names in the region, Mohamed Hefzy and Amr Salama, to serve as producer and showrunner respectively.

Heavily inspired by Egyptian mythical folk tales, and based in the 1960s, the series follows Dr. Refaat Ismail, and his shenanigans of facing and encountering numerous supernatural events.

This is such a big deal to people who grew up in the 80s and the 90s. With no gaming consoles, internet, or 24/7 TV channels, they didn’t have a proper source of entertainment, except these novels. These novels were all that they had.

Well, these and ‘Al Ragol Al Mostaheel’ novels, written by the great Egyptian Novelist, Nabil Farouk.

Nonetheless, everyone was reading and discussing them, kids even pretended to be studying in front of their parents, while actually hiding them inside their study books.

The first novel published was “Ostoret Masas Al Dema2 Wal Ragol Al Ze2b” back in 1998. Instantly hooking people and making them want more!

And with 80 novels and 81 installments, Netflix and Amr Salama have a lot of great stories to adapt for the series.

The shooting of Paranormal will take place here, in Egypt. Yet we have no idea about its release date. All we can do now, is wait.

And goddamnit, we’re waiting.
